TORONTO - With seven seconds remaining, the game all but wrapped up and moments after draining the biggest shot of the night, Kyle Lowry stepped to the line. Adrian Clayborn Jersey . As he recorded his 23rd and 24th points of the evening, a segment of the sellout Air Canada Centre crowd expressed their appreciation for the Raptors point guard with a smattering of MVP chants. Even Lowry, in the midst of a career and possible All-Star year, laughed it off. "If I win the MVP youll see pigs fly," he joked after leading his team to a bounce-back 94-89 victory over the Timberwolves Friday. Lowry connected on a season-best six three-point shots, none bigger than the one he hit from the corner with just under 15 seconds left to give the Raptors a seven-point lead and put the Wolves comeback hopes to rest. He wont be lifting an MVP trophy anytime soon - though he did ascend to 10th on NBA.coms "Race to the MVP Ladder" this week - but he is well on his way to representing the Raptors in New Orleans for next months All-Star Game. In nine games this month, the eighth-year vet is averaging 17.8 points and 8.0 assists while shooting a remarkable 52 per cent from long range. "Hes playing at a high level," Dwane Casey said. "This is the highest level hes played, the best I think hes played. I dont think hed tell you that." Casey was right, he wouldnt. "I feel good," Lowry responded, asked if hes playing his best basketball, also citing a productive half-season stretch he had with the Rockets in 2011-12. "Hes a tough competitor, plays hard all the time," said Rick Adelman, current Wolves bench boss and Lowrys former coach in Houston. "Hes jumped around to different situations but he was really good for us in Houston and it looks like hes playing that way now." Adelman, who Lowry called his favourite coach, gave the Philadelphia-native his first shot to start and play big minutes in the NBA. In Lowrys final season as a Rocket - with Kevin McHale replacing Adelman on Houstons bench - he appeared to be on the verge of a breakout. He averaged 15.6 points and 7.6 assists prior to the All-Star break and before a mysterious bacterial infection derailed the rest of his season. The Wolves coach said he never had a doubt that Lowry would get back to and even eclipse that level but still, many questioned whether he could be a positive leader at the point guard position. "Hes grown into that role of being a leader, hes matured as a man," Casey said. "Hes doing all the right things and those were the only question marks with Kyle as far as the other coaches are concerned." Lowry credits his personal success to his off-court growth as well as the work he put in during this past offseason. "Im just growing up," the 27-year-old said. "Ive got a son, a wife, a family, its one of those things where you just hit that moment and its just like, youve got to grow up sometime. This summer was a big summer for me. I got a chance to really work as hard as I wanted to and I got a chance to relax my mind and clear it and it seems to be working." With Rudy Gay - his best friend - in Sacramento, Lowry has finally found a balance between utilizing his ability as a scorer and facilitating a productive offence, also excelling on defence and leading the NBA in charges taken (he drew his 24th early in Fridays game). But more than anything else, its his leadership that continues to turn heads, rightfully so. "I didnt do nothing," Lowry said, asked about the teams performance against Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic, one of the toughest frontcourt duos in the league. "The big fellas did a great job tonight, they redeemed themselves. JV, Amir, Chuck, Patt, those guys played huge tonight and all I can do is treat them to lunch one of these days on the road." Lowry, like the rest of the team, recognized the importance of this game following one of their most disappointing efforts of the season in Boston on Wednesday. "We definitely wanted to redeem ourselves after that Boston game," said Amir Johnson, who added 19 points and held Love to 16 on 7-of-19 shooting. "We made it a goal to get stops, get every rebound and we did that tonight." The Raptors allowed an opponent season-high 19 offensive boards in Boston and appeared to be headed for another long night against the one of the NBAs topped ranked rebounding teams. Minnesota grabbed 10 off the offensive glass in the first half but was held to just two the rest of the way as Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas battled Love and Pekovic, keeping them both in check. "We had a bounce-back as a team from the other night," Casey said. We were disappointed that we were ambushed in Boston." "[It was] just a bounce back game for us and we needed it," Lowry echoed. "Tonight we did a great job of bouncing back against a team thats really good, I mean theyre a talented team, well coached. We did a good job of executing our game plan, they made it close but we pulled it out." David Andrews Jersey .ca. Hi Kerry, Love reading your column and loved watching your analysis on the TSN broadcasts! And were now in Round 2! Bruins! Canadiens! We know all about the great games of the past from the players, the broadcasters and the writers. Stephon Gilmore Jersey . Booth picked up 65 caps after making her national team debut in 2002 at the age of 17. She most recently played for Sky Blue FC of the National Womens Soccer League. "It just felt like it was my time to move on," she said in a phone interview from her hometown of Burlington, Ont. http://www.cheappatriotsjerseysonline.com/ . New York City FC introduced Frank Lampard in Brooklyn on Thursday after signing the 36-year-old former Chelsea midfielder to a two-year contract.Maybe its an Ontario thing. The CFL East was indeed the CFL Least for the first half of the season. Wins were rare for all four teams. When it came to glancing at the standings, most observers in Toronto were looking down the QEW to find out what Hamilton was doing. Meanwhile, Ticat followers kept a close eye on their provincial counterparts to see what they were up to. Nobody paid much attention to the team from Montreal. Thats changed. It was easy to discount the Als early in the season. They had a great defence, but their offence was pedestrian at best. Jonathan Crompton took over at quarterback during an Aug. 22 game against Winnipeg and has been able to do what neither Troy Smith nor Alex Brink could do before him and thats make the offence work. Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich, who spent five seasons on the Als coaching staff - the last four as offensive coordinator before moving to Toronto - says that his old clubs current success comes down to the basics. I think their quarterback is playing well, Milanovich told TSN.ca. Their running game has really picked up and theyre not turning it over. It sounds like a simple formula for success and by football standards it is. But the coach doesnt limit the turnaround to just the offensive side of the ball. Their defence has continued to play well, which they have all season, added the coach, before talking more about the Als offence. Theyre making plays when they have the opportunity and their quarterback is getting the ball to the guys who can make plays. Argo Shea Emry did a longer tour of duty in Montreal than his head coach. The middle linebacker spent six seasons in bleu, blanc et rouge before signing a free-agent deal with the double blue in the off-season. He again looked at one of the basic tenets of football as a reason why the Alouettes offence has improved to the degree it has. I think theyre just consistent, said Emry. Theyve been producing. Whatever theyve done with bringing in different coaches and associates and advisors, or whatever you want to call them, theyve done a good job at solidifying who their starting quarterback is. Thats a big thing for a team to know whos leading the ship, continued the linebacker. For them its Crompton and hes been doing a great job, obviously, with his record as a starter (5-1). Its not the firstt game against his former team. Stephen Gostkowski Jersey. On Aug. 1, Emry and his teammates traveled to McGill and put a 31-5 beating on the home side. It doesnt mean that this weeks game is any less significant. It always means something when you play against your old mates, admitted the Richmond, B.C. native. Itll be a lot of fun, but at the same time it takes a heightened level of focus to go out there and perform and not get lost in the old relationships and to make sure youre not going too hard, or youre not going hard enough and balancing those types of things. The last game between these two teams that truly meant something was the 2012 Eastern Final, played at Olympic Stadium. The Argos came back from a 17-7 first-half deficit, took a 27-20 lead, before a last-second potential TD pass to Brian Bratton went for naught and the Argos went on to win the 100th Grey Cup a week later. That game featured a match-up of two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the CFL, Anthony Calvillo and Ricky Ray. Calvillo has since retired, but Ray remains at the helm of the Argos and says they havent taken the Als lightly, despite their slow start. Weve been in the same boat as them all year too, said Ray. Theyre one of the hotter teams here in the east, we definitely know theyre a good team. Theyve got good players and theyre more than capable of going out there and playing a great game. The quarterback, who turns 35 next week, says that much like their offence, the Alouettes defence also has a new look. Theyve changed quite a bit, to be honest, from the beginning of the year until now, explained Ray. Theyre not as aggressive with some of the stuff that theyre doing, but theyve got those veteran guys that have been playing over there for a long time and they just do things well. Its not a must win for the Argos, but a victory would go a long way toward clinching a playoff spot. It would give them a two-point lead over Montreal with just three games left and more importantly it would give them the tie-breaker against the Als should the teams finish in a dead heat. That means that two wins for the Argos in their last three games would leave them ahead of Montreal, even if the Alouettes win out. If the Als win it sets up what could an incredibly important game at Molson Stadium in two weeks. This should be fun.
